BLS for Healthcare Provider (HCP)
The BLS for Healthcare Provider (HCP) course skills taught are 1- and 2-rescuer adult, child and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), choking, automated external defibrillator (AED) training and the use of bag valve mask (BVM). The course is designed for healthcare providers who need a credentialed course and is also open to first responders who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.

The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (HCP) is a classroom course that is designed to teach a variety of healthcare professionals how to recognize a number of life-threatening emergencies, how to provide CPR, how to use an AED and how to relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.
Target Group
This course is for healthcare professionals who must know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a range of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.
BLS Course Content

Critical concepts of high-quality CPR

One-rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant
Two-rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infant
Differences between adult, child and infant rescue techniques
Bag-mask techniques for adult, child and infant
Rescue breathing for adult, child and infant
Relief of choking for adult, child and infant
CPR with an advanced airway
Approximate Course Length: 4.5 hours
Approximate course length for renewal course: 4 hours
Students must pass a written exam and skills test in order to qualify for a BLS for Healthcare Provider (C) course completion card.
